A Bit about Zehrron
Humble Beginnings
Zehrron was born in Drakehaven, a bustling port city teeming with trade, political intrigue, and shadows cast by the nobility's greed. His mother was a seamstress struggling to make ends meet after his father, a dockworker, died in a warehouse collapse. As a child, Zehron quickly learned that survival often meant fighting for scraps, both literal and figurative.
From an early age, Zehrron showed a natural aptitude for strategy and combat. He was clever and resourceful, able to outwit bullies who underestimated him. However, he also had a strong sense of justice instilled by his mother, who often said, “Do what you must, but never lose yourself.” Her death during a plague left him orphaned at 12, trained in the skills of the warrior.
Life with the Velvet Knights
The Velvet Knights were more than just a mercenary group—they were a symbol of fear and power. Their leader, Commander Theodric Velmont, wielded charisma like a blade, drawing in recruits with promises of glory and wealth. For Zehrron, their ranks offered something else: a family and purpose which he joined at the age of 16.
As a recruit, Zehrron proved himself not only skilled with a polearm but also tactically brilliant. The Knights soon recognized his potential and promoted him to Myrmidon, a battlefield leader responsible for commanding squads during combat. Zehrron’s unit became known as "Velmont's Hammer" for their swift and decisive victories.
The mission that defined his time with the Knights—and began his descent into disillusionment—was the Purge of Eryndor, a campaign against the Elven city of Lunaris. Officially, the Knights were hired by Duke Halgren to “secure the borders from Elven insurgents,” but Zehrron soon realized the truth: it was a massacre designed to eradicate an Elven population that had dared to resist the Duke’s expansionist ambitions.
Zehrron fought to protect his men and complete the mission, but the slaughter of civilians, including children, haunted him. His men's bloodlust took over them. He began questioning whether the Knights' cause was righteous—or if they were just tools for the powerful to wield against the weak. His growing dissent didn’t go unnoticed.

The Cage Fighter
Zehrron wandered the land for months, haunted by the screams of Eryndor and the faces of the comrades he had lost. He found himself in Mourndale, a city infamous for its lawless underground and brutal entertainment. Here, he discovered the blood pits, where men and beasts fought for gold, glory, and survival.
Initially, Zehrron fought out of desperation, using his winnings to keep himself fed. However, his skill in combat and refusal to fight dishonorably made him a favorite among spectators. They called him “The Ghost of the Knights,” both for his haunting silence before battles and the myths that followed him about his past.
Though he gained fame, he remained isolated. The pit was just another battlefield, and his victories did little to ease his guilt. He considered leaving the cage behind, but fear of facing the outside world’s judgment—and his own—kept him tethered to the fight.
Meeting the Party
Zehrron’s fate changed when he was hired as a caravan guard heading to Stonefall Keep, a job he saw as a simple way to earn coin. The caravan was attacked by a group of skilled bandits who were far better equipped than the usual rabble. When all seemed lost, the adventuring party intervened, turning the tide of the battle.
Impressed by their bravery and intrigued by their motivations, Zehrron found himself lingering after the job was done. For the first time in years, he saw a group of people who fought not for wealth or power but for something greater. Despite his initial reluctance, their camaraderie and moral conviction began to rekindle something within him—a sense of hope and purpose.
Zehrron’s Role in the Party
Zehrron remains a reserved and cautious ally, but he is fiercely loyal to the group. He often serves as their moral compass in morally gray situations, drawing on his experiences to weigh the consequences of their actions.
