A Bit About Talison

Talison's Backstory

The Beginning

Talison’s life began in tragedy. During a fierce war that swept across the land, his parents were captured—or perhaps killed—leaving him orphaned as chaos reigned. At just a few years old, Talison was entrusted to the care of Azarath the Verdant, a dragon of immense wisdom and power, who owed a life-debt to Talison’s parents. She delivered him to the safety of the Marth Forest, a place of ancient magic and secrets, and left behind a single green scale imbued with protective draconic magic.

Azarath whispered a name to him before disappearing into the sky: Joaqhan II, the enigmatic wizard of the Marth Forest. She assured the child that the wizard might someday help him understand his past.

Life in the Forest

Growing up in the wilds of the Marth Forest, Talison learned to live in harmony with nature. He became a skilled hunter, tracker, and archer, his bond with the forest's creatures unmatched. The draconic scale he carried seemed to resonate with the forest’s magic, guiding him and warding off danger in subtle ways.

At the edge of the forest, rumors of the wizard Joaqhan II were whispered in both awe and trepidation. Some said he was a guardian of the forest, protecting it from those who sought to exploit its resources. Others claimed he was a recluse, dabbling in magics too dangerous for the mortal realm. Talison, however, had little interaction with the wizard, save for the occasional feeling of being watched as he roamed the forest.

Valeska’s Connection

Unbeknownst to Talison, Joaqhan II had taken on an apprentice: Valeska, a ranger and skilled spellcaster who had come to the wizard seeking knowledge. Valeska became Joaqhan's student, learning both magic and the ancient lore of the forest. As Talison’s reputation as a skilled ranger grew, Valeska took notice, and their paths crossed on several occasions.

Valeska, aware of the magical scale Talison carried, recognized it as a draconic artifact and encouraged him to seek Joaqhan II’s guidance. However, Talison hesitated, unsure whether the wizard would be a friend or foe.

The Call to Adventure

As Talison grew older, strange changes began to occur. The dragon scale he carried started to emit faint, pulsing light, and his dreams became filled with visions of fire, flight, and his parents’ faces. He began to suspect that the scale might hold the key to his past—and that Joaqhan II might have the answers he sought.

When Joaqhan II called for Talison to meet him, the young ranger reluctantly accepted, venturing deep into the heart of the Marth Forest to the wizard’s tower. There, he learned that the scale was more than just a keepsake—it was a powerful magical artifact linked to Azarath herself. Joaqhan revealed that Azarath had made a pact with Talison’s parents to protect him, but her fate—and the truth of his parents’ role in the war—remained shrouded in mystery.

Azarath’s Warning

Joaqhan, cryptic as always, hinted that the scale was awakening because of a growing threat: an ancient enemy of Azarath and the Marth Forest itself. This revelation came with a warning—Talison’s quest to uncover the truth might place him in grave danger, and the forest’s magic would only protect him for so long.

With Valeska by his side as an ally and mentor, Talison set out to piece together his past, guided by the wizard’s enigmatic advice and the enduring power of the dragon scale.
